Job Title: Trauma Stabilization /Aftercare Therapist 

Location: Hybrid 

Reports to: Trauma Clinic Clinical Director 

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Trauma Therapist to join our trauma focused mental health clinic, working under the guidance of the Clinical Director.  As a Trauma Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing evidence-based, trauma informed care to adult clients. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver stabilization and/or aftercare services to adults who have experienced varying degrees of trauma including, but not limited to, complex trauma and dissociation, ensuring that all care is rooted in empirically validated practices. You will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless and holistic treatment across the continuum of care. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Direct Client Care 

  • Provide individual therapy to clients who have experienced trauma with the intention to help them prepare for more intense trauma work  using evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) or other proven modalities. 
  • Provide individual therapy for clients during the treatment phase and after having completed trauma treatment to help clients adjust back to their environment of choice as part of our after-care program. 
  • Conduct comprehensive trauma assessments to identify trauma history, symptom severity, and treatment needs using a trauma informed approach. 
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each client’s specific trauma experiences, ensuring ongoing evaluation and adjustment of goals. 

Collaboration and Teamwork 

  • Participate in weekly team consultations and case conceptualizations, contributing to treatment planning and sharing clinical insights with colleagues. 
  • Coordinate care with both internal and external providers, including primary care physicians, schools, or social service agencies, to provide well-rounded client support. 

Evidence-Based Practice and Professional Development 

  • Deliver trauma treatment grounded in empirically validated practices, maintaining a commitment to the highest standards of clinical care. 
  • Stay up to date with the latest trauma research, attending trainings, seminars, or workshops to ensure the continued use of best practices in trauma treatment. 
  • Participate in regular consultation with the Clinical Director to enhance therapeutic skills and ensure alignment with clinic protocols.

Documentation and Compliance 

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in accordance with the clinic’s policies and ethical standards. 
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and ethical guidelines related to trauma treatment and patient confidentiality. 
  • Use standardized outcome measures to track client progress and make data-informed adjustments to treatment plans. 

Outreach and Education 

  • Contribute to community outreach efforts by educating clients, families, and community members  
  • Lead or participate in support groups, workshops, or educational sessions for clients and caregivers focused on trauma-informed care and resilience building, as needed. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field. 
  • Licensed in MN as a LPC, LADC, LGSW, or other form of licensure that will allow for reimbursement of services or to practice under another licensed professional for reimbursement. 
  • Having completed or enrolled to complete basic course work in trauma in one of the following fields such as TFCBT, EMDR, CPT, PE, AIR etc). 
  • If you are certified in a trauma modality, please consider applying for the Certified Trauma Treatment Therapist role at the MMHC Center for Trauma Care and Healing. 
  • Experience working with adult clients who have trauma histories, including complex trauma with dissociation, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning in the field of trauma.
