Position Overview:
The Director of Revenue Operations & Billing will oversee all revenue cycle functions, billing processes, and credentialing activities across multiple mental health service lines, including therapy, psychiatry, programs, and case management. This role is essential for ensuring optimal revenue performance, accurate claims processing, timely payments, effective denial management, and credentialing compliance across multiple clinic locations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Revenue Cycle Leadership: Develop and implement strategies for effective revenue cycle management, ensuring accurate billing, prompt payment processing, and minimal claims denials.
– Billing & Claims Management: Oversee the timely submission and reconciliation of mental health insurance claims. Manage denials, appeals, payment posting, and collections processes to maximize revenue.
– Denial & Accounts Receivable Management: Analyze denials, identify patterns, and implement solutions to minimize aging and optimize collections.
– Payer Contracting & Relations: Ensure effective management of payer contracts, reimbursement negotiations, and consistent revenue from insurance providers.
– Credentialing & Compliance: Oversee the timely credentialing and recredentialing of clinics and providers. Ensure compliance with payer requirements and regulatory guidelines.
– Data & Performance Metrics: Develop and maintain revenue cycle metrics, including claim denial rates, AR aging reports, cash collections, and credentialing timelines. Leverage data-driven insights to enhance financial performance.
– Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with clinical, administrative, and financial teams to streamline operations, resolve billing issues, and enhance client experience.
– Technology Utilization: Manage billing software, EHR systems, and revenue cycle tools, optimizing processes through technology.
– Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage revenue cycle and billing teams, fostering an environment of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field
– 7+ years of revenue cycle, billing management, or healthcare financial operations experience, specifically in mental health, therapy, psychiatry, or related behavioral health environments.
– Expert knowledge of mental health billing practices, insurance reimbursement, claims processing, and denial management.
– Proven experience managing credentialing processes for behavioral health clinicians.
– Strong familiarity with multi-location healthcare operations and various behavioral health service lines.
– Proficiency in healthcare billing systems, electronic health records (EHR), and analytics tools.
– Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
– Certification in healthcare revenue cycle management or healthcare compliance (e.g., CRCR, CPC, CHFP).
– Direct experience managing revenue cycles and billing operations for mental health or behavioral health organizations.
– Experience driving net collections improvement initiatives end to end
– Experience managing both new hire & existing team member credentialing
– Familiarity with Minnesota mental health regulations and insurance requirements.
