Minnesota Mental Health Clinics is excited to welcome a new float Program Therapist to provide intensive outpatient psychotherapy services to participants in the Adolescent Intensive DBT/CBT Program (ASTAT).The therapist will be working with adolescents age 13 to 18 struggling with severe anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts or behaviors, and self-injurious behaviors in order to prevent hospitalization and out-of-home placement, maintain school attendance, and promote stabilization.

This position is 30 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, with an option to build an outpatient therapy caseload outside of these 30 hours after group therapy role is established.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete Intake and Diagnostic Assessments
  • Create treatment plans with the adolescent and family that enhances each client’s strengths while also addressing the unique needs of the child and family
  • Facilitate  CBT/DBT-based group therapy on four days per week
  • Facilitate parent group and aftercare group on a weekly basis
  • Complete daily notes and weekly summaries for each client
  • Coordination of services with other care providers including schools, therapists, psychiatrists and other programs
  • Complete insurance authorization as needed
  • Return phone calls within 24 hours from outside providers, clinicians and families to provide information about ASTAT and schedule intakes
  • Maintain charting requirements according to Rule 29 policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate the ability to de-escalate crisis or emergency situations and assist clients with managing crises as they arise in group therapy
  • Provide coverage for alternate group locations when needed
  • Participate in weekly case consultations and case reviews to ensure compliance with Rule 29 procedures

Supervision: We offer a limited number of supervised positions for highly qualified graduate degree holders who are working towards independent licensure in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling. Supervision towards these licensure is provided at no additional cost with a 2 year contract as a licensed therapist at MMHC after the supervisory period. In addition to the above responsibilities and duties, supervision includes:

  • Conducting therapy intakes and sessions under the license of your supervisor, who will also sign off on diagnostic assessments, documentation, and progress notes
  • Weekly consultation meetings and ongoing support with an experienced Supervisor to review cases, discuss challenges, brainstorm solutions, improve communication, etc.

Requirements

  • Completed Masters Degree
  • Working towards independent licensure in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or professional counseling
  • Experience in working with mental health clients through internships or past employment (such as residential facilities, case management, group therapy, crisis counseling, etc.)
  • Experience facilitating DBT group therapy in an outpatient setting strongly preferred
  • Graduate coursework in clinical psychology or clinical social work
  • Computer skills including using Microsoft Office products and healthcare software
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the availability of new technology and software
