Understanding Parental Burnout
Feel like you don't ever have time just for yourself? Feel like small things bring about big reactions? Feel like you just need a rest but can't? We get it, parenting is so hard. And if you answered 'Yes' to all of those, you may be experiencing...burnout.

Did you know?

33% of parents experience high levels of regular stress

Even more concerning is that 48% of parents report their stress is "completely overwhelming".

So what can you do to help yourself?

These simple daily practices can make all the different: 1. Take short breaks, even if only for 10 minutes. 2. Sleep, whenever you can. Forget the TV, find your bed. And 3. Move, however you can. Healthy energy expenditure actually gives you more energy.

You don’t have to do everything alone. Reach out to family, friends or other parents. However you can create some breathing room for yourself, try.

You’re not perfect. Pro tip: no one is. Be gentle and forgiving with yourself, work to say ‘No’ to extra commitments and added stress. You’re doing great, remind yourself of that.

And don't wait. Talk to someone today.

It's easy to say "I'm fine", and convince yourself that is true. But you're not the only one who is experiencing the impact of burnout...your family and others can be impacted by chronic stress in your life, too.

The good news is you're not alone.

Our clinicians know how to work with parents, and use evidence-based approaches to treatment like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (or CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), or Emotionally Focused Therapy (ETF) to deliver successful outcomes.
