Q&A
What was your path to becoming a mental health professional?
I earned a bachelor's degree from Hamline University, then went on to complete a master's degree at the University of St. Thomas in their co-occurring disorders track. Over the past 4 years, I have gained valuable experience working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, which has deepened my knowledge and passion for supporting this population and their families. Additionally, I have a strong passion for working with individuals experiencing co-occurring disorders.
What should clients expect when working with you?
I use a person-centered approach and strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals. My goal is to assist clients in harnessing their inherent strengths and resources, fostering their personal growth, and facilitating positive change. I approach each client with optimism, believing in their capacity for resilience, growth, and fulfillment. I approach every client with the understanding that they are the experts on their own lives, possessing the capacity for positive growth and autonomy, with subjective experiences that deserve to be honored.
If you could be doing anything else, what would it be?
I would be hanging out with my fluffy dog, trying a new recipe, and reading.
