The diagnostic assessment requires an in-person visit. Intake consultation and feedback sessions are available by telehealth.
ADHD and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often go unnoticed for years β and they regularly co-occur. Our skilled clinicians provide testing to determine whether an ADHD diagnosis, an ASD diagnosis, or both fit, and partner with you on the right treatment and support plan.
Who this is for
You might be here becauseβ¦
- You or your child struggle with focus, follow-through, or organization
- Restlessness, fidgeting, or hyperactivity is interfering with school, work, or relationships
- You're noticing differences in social communication, sensory experience, or routines that point toward ASD
- You suspect ADHD, ASD, or both, and want a definitive evaluation before starting treatment
- A previous provider mentioned ADHD or ASD as a possibility and you want a comprehensive assessment
- You're seeking documentation for school, workplace, or other accommodations
What to expect
A clear path to getting started.
Schedule a consultation
Book online or call us. We'll talk through your concerns β ADHD, ASD, or both β and what an evaluation involves so you know what to expect.
Comprehensive assessment
Our clinicians use standardized tools and clinical interviews to evaluate attention, impulsivity, social communication, sensory processing, and related areas. Length and format are tailored to your age, presentation, and the questions you're trying to answer.
Diagnostic findings
You'll receive a clear, written summary of what was assessed, the diagnostic conclusions (including any co-occurring conditions), and what they mean for you.
Treatment & support planning
If a diagnosis is appropriate, we'll discuss next steps. For ADHD that often combines medication and behavioral therapy; for ASD it's typically therapy plus skills support and accommodations. Both available in-house at MMHC.

Common questions
Frequently asked
What is ADHD?
ADHD (Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder) affects attention, organization, and impulse control β it often shows up as focus and time-management challenges, but it also brings creativity and energy. With the right support, individuals with ADHD thrive. We offer ADHD assessments starting at age 6.
What is ASD (autism spectrum disorder)?
ASD affects social communication, sensory processing, and behavior. Individuals on the spectrum may prefer predictability, communicate differently, and experience sensory sensitivities β while also showing strong focus, deep interests, and meaningful strengths. Supportive, personalized environments help promote independence and wellbeing. We offer ASD assessments starting at age 2.5.
Can you assess for both ADHD and ASD in the same evaluation?
Yes. ADHD and ASD share several overlapping features (attention, sensory differences, executive function) and frequently co-occur. Our clinicians can structure a combined assessment that looks at both rather than making you book two separate evaluations, and the report calls out when symptoms overlap.
What does the diagnostic process actually look like?
Person-centered and thorough. (1) A clinical interview about history, strengths, challenges, and goals. (2) Standardized testing and questionnaires tailored to your symptoms and developmental stage. (3) A behavioral and cognitive evaluation that examines attention, executive function, social-emotional development, and learning patterns. You leave with a clear written diagnostic profile and practical next-step recommendations.
What happens after testing?
If a diagnosis is appropriate, clients can transition seamlessly into MMHC's broader care system β therapy, psychiatry, skills groups, or family support β all under one roof. Your assessment clinician shares findings directly with the next care team so you're not retelling your story from scratch.
What's the difference between ADHD and ADD?
The terms ADD and ADHD are often used interchangeably, but the current correct medical terminology is ADHD (Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder). ADD was the diagnostic term used in the third edition of the DSM; later revisions changed the name to ADHD to reflect updated research findings.
