Q&A

What was your path to becoming a mental health professional?

As an adolescent, I found a passion for helping those around me. This led me to major in psychology with a focus on human development while in college. After graduating, I worked at a large residential facility serving adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses (SMPIs). This motivated me to return to school for a masters in social work, where I focused on its clinical applications. It was during an internship in this program that I found my calling to be a clinical therapist

What should clients expect when working with you?

I tend to take a more directive approach than other clinicians. I believe I also tend to give more insight than others. I try to facilitate a warm and safe environment where clients can explore their thought processes while working to improve.

If you could be doing anything else, what would it be?

I really love what I do, but I suppose being a medical doctor is a career that I would've enjoyed as well.
