Q&A

What was your path to becoming a mental health professional?

My path into mental health was shaped by both professional training and lived experience. I began my career working closely with families during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood, including work as a doula and later as a licensed therapist. Over time, I saw how profoundly mental health, trauma, and systemic stressors affect people during reproductive and family transitions-and how often these needs go unmet. That led me to specialize in perinatal and reproductive mental health, with a focus on trauma-informed, somatic, and feminist approaches to care. My work today is grounded in the belief that mental health struggles don't happen in isolation, but within the context of relationships, bodies, and broader social systems.

What should clients expect when working with you?

Clients can expect a thoughtful, collaborative, and non-judgmental approach. I strive to create a space that feels safe, grounded, and affirming-especially during times of transition, uncertainty, or loss. My work blends evidence-based therapy with somatic and mindfulness-informed practices, helping clients understand both the emotional and physical dimensions of their experiences. I value honesty, curiosity, and pacing that respects each person's nervous system and life context. Above all, I aim to meet clients where they are and support them in building clarity, resilience, and self-trust.

If you could be doing anything else, what would it be?

I would still be doing work centered on care, storytelling, and connection-likely writing, teaching, or advocating around mental health and social change. I'm deeply interested in how stories shape our understanding of ourselves and the world, and how sharing them can reduce shame and build collective resilience.
