Q&A

What was your path to becoming a mental health professional?

My path to becoming a mental health counselor began with a curiosity in learning about people and their unique life stories. I've always been fascinated by what shapes us and how those experiences influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us. As I learned more about mental health, I realized I wanted to build a career centered on helping others navigate life's difficulties with compassion and understanding. I am passionate about creating spaces where people feel heard, respected, and accepted without judgment. I believe that every person's story matters, and it is a privilege to walk alongside clients as they gain insight, develop resilience, and work toward meaningful change.

What should clients expect when working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make the process feel welcoming and supportive. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a conversation rather than a checklist. You can expect an approach that is warm, collaborative, and centered on your unique experiences and goals. We'll take time to understand what's bringing you in, explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and focus on helping you move forward. My goal is for you to leave sessions feeling understood, challenged when appropriate, and empowered to continue your growth outside of therapy.

If you could be doing anything else, what would it be?

I'd probably be a social worker! I've always been drawn to helping professions where I can support people through life's challenges and help connect them with resources and supports. I have firsthand experience with the importance of having a strong sense of connection and being supported by community, and I know how meaningful that can be during difficult times.
