Q&A
What was your path to becoming a mental health professional?
Since childhood, I have been a patient of therapy and what resonated with me was the space to express myself and not feel judged. To explore parts of myself safely and with grace by someone who wishes the best for me is a gift I wish to replicate with my patients.
What should clients expect when working with you?
I take a collaborative approach to therapy. We are walking together in the process of exploring your needs, hopes, and struggles in life. There will be times where you are walking ahead of me and that looks like sharing your life, processing feelings, interpersonal difficulties, and history. Then there will be times where I will walk ahead of you and that may look like psychoeducation, teaching coping skills, and challenging unhelpful thoughts and beliefs. I assist you navigating through the ups and downs of life through empowerment and self-reflection. I utilize a person-centered, humanistic, and trauma-informed approaches with aspects of ACT, CBT, and DBT.
If you could be doing anything else, what would it be?
I am happy with the profession I have chosen BUT if I had to be doing something else I would work at an elephant sanctuary.
